At EmPower we are dedicated to protecting your privacy. Below we set out our privacy policy which will govern the way in which we process any personal information that you provide to us. We will notify you if the way in which we process your information is to change at any time.

Personal information and how it is used

To confirm consultation details such as date and location, we ask for your name and email address. To confirm that you are likely to benefit from a weight loss program, we ask for your BMI.

In order to use your consultation session time in the most efficient way, we ask for information relating to your height, weight, age and gender so that we can prepare nutritional and exercise recommendations in advance. This information, as well as your diet history, is collected against a confidential Client ID.

To provide the nearest consultant we may ask for town and postcode. If you request your nearest consultant details to be e-mailed to you, we ask for your e-mail address.

Your details are not rented, given or sold to any other company - spam doesn't reflect how we do business!

As required by the UK Data Protection Act 1998, we follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given us, to prevent unauthorised access. You may ask us whether we are storing personal information about you by emailing us at info@empower-me.co.uk and, if you wish and upon payment of a fee of £10, we will provide you with a copy of the personal data we hold about you by email or by post. We may ask for proof of your identity before providing any information and reserve the right to refuse to provide information requested if identity is not established. If you find any inaccuracies we will delete or correct it promptly.

We will never collect sensitive information about you without your explicit consent. The information we hold will be accurate and up to date.

We may use your information for the purpose informing you of special offers and providing other marketing information to you which we think you may find of interest. If you would rather not receive this information, you may opt out by e-mailing admin@empower-me.co.uk.

We use IP addresses to analyse trends, administer the site, track users' movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information. Additionally, for systems administration, detecting usage patterns and troubleshooting purposes, our web servers automatically log standard access information including browser type, access times/open mail, URL requested, and referral URL. This information is not shared with third parties and is used only within Empower-Me on a need-to-know basis and to improve the site. Any individually identifiable information related to this data will never be used in any way different to that stated above without your explicit permission.

Security measures

At Em-Power we understand the value of security and have implemented security policies, rules and technical measures to protect the personal data that we have under our control from unauthorised access, improper use and disclosure, unauthorised destruction or accidental loss.

We cannot guarantee the effectiveness of such measures and exclude liability in the event of loss of data.

Disclosure of information

In the unlikely event that a liquidator, administrator or receiver is appointed over us or all or any part of our assets that insolvency practitioner may transfer your information to a third party purchaser of the business provided that purchaser undertakes to use your information for the same purposes as set out in this policy. We undertake not to provide your personal information to third parties save in accordance with this policy. Your information will not be disclosed to government or local authorities or other government institutions save as required by law or other binding regulations.

Use of cookies

When visiting certain areas of the site, a cookie may be placed on your machine or read if you have visited the site previously. Like most interactive websites the Empower-Me website(s) (or ISP) uses cookies to enable us to retrieve user details for each visit. Cookies are used in some areas of our site to enable the functionality of this area and ease of use for those people visiting. We do not use this technology to access any personally identifiable information; it is a tool we use to improve the functionality of the Em-Power website.

We use technology to identify ownership of individual 'shopping baskets' during the ordering process using a "session cookie" which would be temporarily stored on your computer. A session cookie is also called a transient cookie, a cookie that is erased when the user closes the web browser. The session cookie is stored in temporary memory and is not retained after the browser is closed. Session cookies do not collect information from the user's computer.
